Hosting Your Website On The Internet
Companies who host websites on the Internet provide a technical platform known as a Hosting Service to enable your site to be seen on the Internet.
A Domain Name is a unique 'web address name' that you register, this Domain Name can then be used to direct people to your website.
Like postal addresses, Domain Names need to be unique so that people (computers) using the web can find you. If there wasn't a unique name for every website on the web, it simply would not work.
When you register your domain name it will be for a period of one year or more, this is then renewable there after if you choose to keep ownership of your domain name.
